Counterattack at Fish Market

Room 2706|Acrylic 35 x 27 cm 2016

Near my father's home town, there is a famous fishing port named Nanliao. When I was a boy, my grandfather often led us to go there, chased and ran after one another in the square. But what I loved most was strolling in the market of fish auction. The fish stinks suffused in the air and it always made me associated the sea foods on the ice with the corpses in the cartoons I read. And I imagined that the dead fishes and shrimps revive suddenly and began revenging against fish dealers and housewives.
Now, when I recalled the old stories of my childhood, in my mind, there rose such a reflection: We, human beings, have no power to decide the death of other lives for the sake of our own desires to get good food. We must rethink profoundly: How should we revise our attitude to the other lives and come to an equilibrium between us and them.
